Theme Introduction
Throughout its history, the local lifestyle in Tibet has continued to evolve and progress. A unique fusion of ancient customs and modern trends, classic traditions and contemporary innovations, thrive in this special place, creating a vibrant blend.
Here, external cultures harmonize with local traditions, leading to new experiences. At the edges where different cultures intertwine, one can deeply experience the collision between tradition and modernity. From urban development to preserving traditional architecture, the challenges of modernization clash with the enduring appreciation for tradition, creating an intriguing dichotomy.
The boundaries between urban and rural, natural and artificial are becoming blurred, posing new questions that demand a fresh perspective.
Today, traditional folk beliefs, primarily rooted in experience, coexist and blend with the rapidly evolving rational thinking spurred by technological advancements. Diverse identities foster the convergence and fusion of various social groups, creating a more inclusive society.
"Collision and fusion" offer a window to explore the complexity and diversity of the Tibetan region. Within the realms of time and various ecological changes and advancements, everything exists in a perpetual cycle of collision and fusion, nurturing growth. Deep reflections on tradition/modernity, culture/society, nature/civilization are provoked.
In this year's visual competition, we look forward to participants actively exploring the multidimensional dialogues in the plateau region. Join us in witnessing the enchanting charm of collision and fusion.
